Creativity Coaching with Anthony Lawlor

Thank you, Anthony, for helping me create my new workshop.
Your gentle guidance gave me insights and strength to see it though.
It was a great success!—S.L, California

My Creative Vision Coaching Method
Something within you is yearning to be expressed. You want to give it birth and share it with the world, but you don’t know how. You try and try, but fear, confusion or some other obstacle always seems to obscure the clarity of that still, small voice within you. It resists translating it into that book, painting or other artistic work. When the breakthrough is made and that creative impulse finds its way into the light, you come alive, everything aligns and the world glows.

Overcoming your resistance and expressing your creativity does not happen by random chance. It comes about through a four-fold coaching approach:

• Listening to your inner creative voice and envisioning how it is longing to be expressed
• Honoring that creative impulse and facilitating its expression
• Noticing what has been created and refining it express greater depth and meaning
• Following through to complete and share what you’ve created

I call these four stages of coaching The Creative Vision Method. Through this four-fold process— listening and seeing, honoring and facilitating, noticing and refining, completing and sharing— the creative impulse that is nagging to be expressed moves through resistance to satisfying expression. You create from a deeper, more inspiring place and find fulfillment in more satisfying creations. The Creative Vision Method can assist you with any type of creative work—writing, painting, design, music, sculpture, etc., even starting or improving a business that expresses your creative talents.

The Creative Vision Coaching Process
We begin with a free 30-minute sample session.
During this call by phone or Skype, we’ll explore what creative project or projects you’d like coaching through. You’ll experience how my coaching process can support you in listening to that still small voice and we’ll discuss the ways I can help you express that deep creative impulse. We’ll have time to answer questions and see if this way of working together feels right to you. If working together seems like what you want to do, we’ll schedule a Well-Spring Session. I’ll send you a file of some preliminary work to do that will help me know you better.

The Well-Spring Session
In this one-hour call we’ll use the Creative Vision Method to guide you in listening to the deep creative impulses that are stirring within you. We’ll sense what’s blocking you from clearly sensing those creative impulses and expressing them in your creative work. Then we’ll discover some initial ways for you to put that creative energy onto the page, the canvas, or other medium and give you some homework to do. At the end of our Well-Spring Session, we’ll schedule regular, creative coaching sessions, usually three per month.

Regular, Follow Through Calls
In regular follow-up calls, we will check-in on your homework, refine the creative practices you have tailored to your creative work and explore what you’ve discovered during the time in between coaching sessions. We will go deeper into the work you’re doing and outline the next steps to take on your creative journey. All of this will align your inner creative desires with their expression in words and images.

My work has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, National Public Radio (NPR), The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and numerous other media. My books A Home for the Soul and The Temple in the House describe how buildings and cities serve as allies in deepening conscious experience in daily life. My recent book, 24 Patterns of Wisdom, explores visual diagrams depicting how the architecture of psyche can assist us in navigating the challenges and awakenings of the human journey. My 30-minute film, THE LIVING TEMPLE: A Journey Through World Sacred Places, illustrates the shared archetypal patterns of design and iconography that underlie the architecture of cathedrals, temples, mosques, stupas and other holy places around the globe.

I received my Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley with a thesis describing how sunlight shapes architecture. During 30 years of architectural practice I have received awards for excellence in design from the American Institute of Architects and Interior Design Magazine. I am currently designing a healing center in Corfu based on the healing centers of ancient Greece. In addition to my creative work, I have practiced meditation for decades and traveled extensively throughout India, Europe, Asia and North America.
